Visit Kotka-Hamina at the Travel Fair – Matkamessut

15.1.2025 | East Coast tourism will be on show at the Helsinki Travel Fair, 16-19 January, in the Helsinki Exhibition Centre. In addition to the exhibition stand, travel tips for the Loviisa, Kotka and Hamina regions will be on offer at Travel fair professional events.

At the Visit Kotka-Hamina stand at 6h30, visitors will receive the best tips for the East Coast, brochures and a stylish Visit Kotka-Hamina bag. In addition to the municipalities in the region, the stand will feature

  • Eastern Gulf of Finland guest marinas (Laivasilta, Kaunissaari, Sapokka, Tervasaari and Klamila)
  • Strömfors ruukki
  • Gasthaus Vanha Merivartioasema
  • Meyer Hamina
  • Vimpa Islands
  • Sunila Aalto Homes event
  • Satama Arena

The wonders of the East Coast will also be presented to more than 20 international and domestic travel agents at the Travel Workshop sales event and to media representatives and social influencers at the Destination Breakfast. The stand will also host an invitation-only event with around thirty media representatives.

Jussu Pöyhönen, the ambassadors’ figurehead, will perform at the stand on Saturday at 12 and 13.The gigs are a foretaste of the BlueBerry Day festival in July in Kaunissaari, Pyhtää. You can win an experience day in Kotka, including an overnight stay at Sunila’s Aalto Home, a visit to the Vellamo Marine Centre and brunch at Restaurant Laakonki.

Journalist, author and influencer Julia Thurén will talk about her trip to the East Coast and the region’s most interesting destinations in the Travel Stories programme on Saturday at 11.30 am. Pearls of the East Coast include the beautiful archipelago, the Amazon River Kymijoki in Southern Finland, Kotka’s parks, the picturesque wooden quarters of Loviisa, the historic centre of Hamina, Valkmusa National Park in Pyhtää, Virolahti’s Bunker Museum and the Salpalinja Museum in Miehikkälä.

Matkamessut is the largest tourism event in Northern Europe, attracting more than 50 000 visitors every year. There are hundreds of exhibitors from nearly 70 countries.
