The renovated platform at Kymi railway station is opened to passenger traffic

30.09.2024 | The renovated passenger platform at Kymi railway station will be opened on Monday 30 September at 16.00, when the closed track will be opened to passenger traffic.
The temporary platform will be available for passenger use until the new platform becomes operational from 16:00 on Monday. The passenger car park will remain in the temporary car park for the time being. Access to the passenger platform will be from the temporary parking area.

The accessibility of the platform area at Kymi station was improved by the construction of a high platform. The platform will be equipped with barriers and paving stones for an accessible route, and a danger zone border will be installed.

Work continues on the platform area
Work will continue on the platform area, including paving and the installation of flagstones, throughout October. The new timetable display and public address system will be introduced by November at the latest. Demolition work on the temporary quay area will start on Tuesday 1 October. The site area will be fenced off with site fencing.

“While the new passenger pier is being put into operation, work will continue in the area. We ask passengers to continue to pay attention to the site arrangements and to exercise caution when moving around the station area,” says Jarmo Nirhamo, Project Manager at the Finnish Transport Agency.
