The removal of winter grit will begin in Kotka

20.3.2025 | The city’s mechanical removal of winter grit will begin today in the market square areas of Kotka and Karhula. The grit will first be removed from downtown areas and pedestrian and cycling paths, after which work will continue on residential streets.
The grit removal process is expected to take approximately six weeks, though possible night frosts may cause delays.
During the cleanup, temporary parking restrictions may be necessary in central areas. Residents are asked to take this temporary inconvenience into account. Efficient grit removal benefits everyone.
To reduce dust, the city will spray cleaned areas with a diluted salt solution. Residents can also help minimize dust by removing grit from roads and pedestrian pathways themselves.
