Council approves the Sports Facilities Service Network Report

11.12.2024 | Kotka City Council has approved the city’s sports facilities service network report and the related proposals for 2025-2030.

The sports facilities service network report, prepared by the Sports Services themselves, is based on Kotka’s budget for 2024, in which one of the priorities of the Sports Services’ activities is to prepare a sports facilities service network report to map out an efficient network of sports facilities and services for the city’s residents and clubs through prioritisation.

Budget cuts in the maintenance of sports facilities will have a particular impact on the number of outdoor sports facilities to be maintained.

The proposed measures in the service network statement aim to reduce the debt for repairs to sports facilities by 5% per year through new investment but also through depreciation where necessary. The Sports Facilities Service Network Report is an inventory of the current state of sports facilities, which provides guidelines for the development of sports facilities and areas in the city and guides the planning, construction and maintenance of sports facilities in the coming years.

The actual planning of sports facilities will be carried out in accordance with decisions to be taken separately. The report sets out proposed measures for each site. The reductions proposed in the service network report relate to the lack of maintenance resources, the level of use of the facilities and their condition.
