Summer concerts in Sapokka and elsewhere in Kotka

12.6.2024 | The City of Kotka’s Culture and Event Services organise the Summer Concert Series for the fourth time. This year there will be three summer concerts in different parts of Kotka. In addition to these, there will be three, very much wanted, Sapokka Park concerts in the summer, for which there was an open call for performers earlier this year. All six concerts will be held outdoors and are open to all and free of charge.

Elias Gould in Karhuvuori

The summer concerts start on 12th June at Karhuvuori 19 pm, where Elias Gould (solo) will perform. Gould is a singer-songwriter from Helsinki, Finland, who makes guitar-driven, British-tinged indie rock and released his new single Raitis mies in April. The summer concert will take place at the Karhuvuori basketball court next to the Urheilutalo.

Karhula Brass Band in Sapokka

The first concert in Sapokka will be held on Wednesday 19th June 19 pm, when the Karhula Brass Band will take to the stage with their cheerful and lively brass music.

Ukrainian Soul Tunes in Sapokka

On Wednesday 3rd July 19 pm, Ukrainian artists will perform on the Sapokka stage under the title “Ukrainian Soul Tunes”. Ukrainian Soul Tunes is a concert in which Ukrainian musicians perform songs that are important to them. Many talented Ukrainian musicians will be performing. The concert has been planned together with the Association of Ukrainians in Kotka.

Lyyti and Mimi and Kuku in Katariina Seaside Park

Emma-nominee Lyyti will charm at a summer concert on 10th July at 19 pm at Katariina Seaside Park. Lyyti is known for her touching songs that touch people of all ages and for her lively performance that brings the stories of her songs to life. Lyyti’s acclaimed third album Nousussa is an enchanting journey from the bottom to the light. The album garnered three Emma nominations, and the song Ennätyshelteet was awarded the Juha Vainio Society’s “Lyrics of the Year” award. Katariina Seaside Park will also have something for the little ones in the family, with children’s favourites Mimi and Kuku performing at 17.30 pm before Lyyti.

The New Joyful Wind Orchestra in Sapokka

The last Sapokka concert of the coming summer will take place on 7th August 19 pm, when the New Joyful Wind Orchestra will perform. The New Joyful Wind Orchestra was founded in 2017 as an adult orchestra of the Kotka Region Music College in cooperation with the Kotka Youth Orchestra Association. The orchestra currently has around 30 musicians, many of whom are former members of the Youth Orchestra.

Angeleyes Abba Tribute Show in Karhula’s Jokipuisto Park

The summer concerts will end on 21st August in Karhula’s Jokipuisto Park at 19 pm, where the atmosphere will be raised to the highest level with the Angeleyes Abba Tribute Show. Angeleyes is an authentic Abba tribute band. The band performs a set of Abba favourites with a stylish pop sound, perfect vocal harmonies, and sound and lighting solutions.
