Romanticism blossoms at the Sinfonietta concerts
25.09.2024 | The Romantic style will blossom in colour at Kymi Sinfonietta’s concerts on Wednesday 25 September at 19:00 at Kotka Concert Hall and Thursday 26 September at 19:00 at Kuusankoskitalo.
The concert opens with Schumann’s optimistic prelude, scherzo and finale. Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto is one of the most important and most frequently recorded works of its genre, captivating from its intense opening melody.
The concert concludes with a further wander through the majestic landscapes of Scotland in the wake of Mendelssohn’s Third Symphony.
The soloist is Canadian violinist Blake Pouliot, a familiar figure to audiences on both sides of the Atlantic. Pouliot first played as an orchestral soloist at the age of 11 and has since performed with most of the top American and Canadian orchestras. The conductor is Jascha von der Goltz, winner of the 2021 Panula Conducting Competition.
