Vaccination places now open to all those over 12 years of age who are eligible for the coronary vaccine
18.09.2024 | Seasonal vaccinations will be extended in Kymenlaakso. Booster doses of the coronary vaccine are now offered to everyone over 65, to those aged 12 and over who are severely immunocompromised and to those over 18 who are at risk of severe coronary heart disease. Previously, the coronary vaccine was only offered to people over 75 and severely immunocompromised people aged 12 and over.
You can make an appointment for the vaccination either online at Hyvis or by phone on 05 220 2020. The vaccination number is open on weekdays from 8.00 to 18.00. on a call-back basis until 25 September. In Kotka, the vaccination centre is Kauppakeskus Pasaati.
A separate appointment for the flu vaccination will be made at the same time. If an appointment for the coronary vaccination has been booked online or if you arrive without an appointment, the flu vaccination appointment will be given at the vaccination centre.
Vaccination will be extended earlier than planned as vaccination sites currently have a good capacity to vaccinate more people. According to Marja-Liisa Mäntymaa, Chief Medical Officer of the Kymenlaakso Welfare Region, the best time to get the coronary vaccine is now.
“Based on last year’s experience, the best time to get a coronary vaccination is in September. That way, the vaccination protection is at its best when the peak of the disease is approaching,” says Mäntymaa.
“In the worst case, the coronavirus can mean a trip to hospital, and even a mild case of the disease is not pleasant. Vaccination can prevent all forms of the disease.”
You can now also book an appointment for a flu vaccination
People at risk of severe influenza and their close relatives, those starting military service or voluntary military service in winter 2025 and all people over 65 years old in Kymenlaakso can book an appointment for an influenza vaccination from today. Exceptions are pregnant women and their spouses and children under 7 years of age, who will be vaccinated at a clinic and whose appointments will be opened later in the autumn. In addition, school-age children and students will be vaccinated at school and student health clinics.
Influenza vaccinations will be given at vaccination centres from October onwards. A booster dose of the coronavirus vaccine can be given at the same time if you are eligible for both vaccines. Appointments can also be made at the Hyvis service centre or by calling the vaccination number on 05 220 2020.
Information on the target groups for seasonal vaccinations and instructions on how to get vaccinated can be found in the Kymenlaakso Wellbeing Region’s seasonal vaccination database.
