Detailed land-use planning

A land-use plan is drawn up for the detailed organisation, construction and development of land use. The zoning plan designates areas for different uses and controls the construction and other land use, the promotion of the urban and landscape image, good building practice and the use of the existing building stock.

The land-use plan takes into account national land-use objectives, regional and general plans.

The zoning plan is presented on a map and is accompanied by a description of the plan and an illustration. It may also be accompanied by a separate building code. The progress of an individual land-use plan project can be followed in the section on pending plans.

The initiative to draw up or amend a plan is usually taken by the municipality. The initiative can also be taken by the landowner. The landowner is responsible for drawing up a coastal zone plan.
